Approach

I’m Alison, a qualified photographer with more than fifteen years behind the camera. I spent around ten of those working freelance on portrait and product commissions alongside a career teaching photography, and opened Alison Joanne Photography in October 2018.

My speciality is working photographic magic on children under five, which mostly means patience: letting a toddler decide the studio is fine before asking anything of them, and running newborn sessions slowly enough that feeding and settling are part of the plan rather than an interruption. Nobody is asked to hold a pose they cannot hold.

I take real pride in the whole process, from planning a shoot through capturing it to the editing afterwards, and in presenting the finished photographs in a way that suits what you actually want while keeping the quality where it should be.
